It’s no surprise that I love to read romance novels. I’m also a sucker for a good chick flick, yet my taste in TV series is wildly different to my taste in books. Why? Reading choices are personal while viewing choices are often a compromise reached between several people.

Imagine the horror of having to run your reading options past someone for their approval. *shudders at the thought.

Winding down with an episode of something, often with dinner, is tradition here. We don’t care much for ads or interruptions and we like our shows to start when we’re ready. So in the spirit of sharing, and in no particular order, here are some of my favourites:

Offspring (okay, you caught me putting my absolute fave first)

Person of Interest

Life on Mars (The BBC version)

The 100

The IT Crowd

Greys Anatomy

Big Love

Kyle XY

Flash Forward

‘Me’ time for reading is always limited, but TV series are easy to work into the schedule. 45 minutes (approximately) of shared viewing is roughly half of a movie and because we pick it up again the next day, and the next, we all start to care about the characters. (And speculate about their fate—which is actually pretty cool.)

What about you? Do you read and watch? And if you watch, what are your favourites?
